Mak's Mercs

Conteact157: Wagon Escort

Stenographer: Sceond Chance

The contract was to help get a wagon from here to Brookhollow to aid the elves and dwarves in clearing out a cave in that trapped some miners. We brought in a rookie fighter named Grahf ‘Kinless’ Gathanathi and paired him with one of our experienced mercs, Ahzul. Things started off well enough. The two of them were able to get Cariona’s wagon past the guards with little effort and when the wagon got raided were able to pull through. The Council of Transportation has approached us to replace a large section of paving stones that Grahf ‘Kinless’ Gathanathi destroyed with his brash inaccuracy. Ahzul proved his mettle in the first battle by eliminating many of the thieves using his variuos magics. When the wagon got stuck in a hive of giant ants things were looking pretty bad as the workers and warriors poured out to protect their home. To make matters worse, a few archers emerged from the bushes with flaming arrows and began to fire on the immobilized wagon. With a little careful planning, Grahf ‘Kinless’ Gathanathi was able to push the wagon free and drop an archer as the other fled. Things took a turn for the worse when they reached the bridge outside of Brookhollow where two more archers and a mage kept them at bay. The archers kept Ahzul at bay by forcing him take care of the wagon but when he took two of those flaming arrows to chest he almost returned to the heavens but was saved before entering the light. The mercs were careless and lost the package all together when the flames reached the volatile chemicals inside the wagon. The wagon exploded killing Cariona’s prized bull, Toots. Cariona lost her remaing arm leaving her with no way to run her business. In the end, all the trapped miners died, the bull died, Cariona has no arms, and Mak is furious. I dont think he will be hiring those two again any time soon so we might be hiring some new mercs. Dated: 3-7-10 Signed: SC
